    MERETE RASMUSSEN: Through the Eyes of the Maker

    This process involves the careful hand-building of clay using slip-a liquid clay mixture-carefully shaped into ribbons to create sturdy yet delicate structures. Merete meticulously constructs her sculptures by gradually shaping and refining the curves, ensuring continuous, unbroken surfaces that enhance the sense of movement.
    The method requires exceptional skill and patience, as the clay must be kept at the right moisture level to maintain its fluidity while supporting the overall structure. Once shaped, the pieces are carefully dried and fired, with vibrant monochrome glazes applied to accentuate the smooth, undulating forms.

    Merete Rasmussen's work has been exhibited internationally and is part of prestigious collections such as: Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, the National Museum of Scotland in the United Kingdom, and MAD Museum of Arts and Design, New York. Through her exploration of form, color, and spatial relationships, Rasmussen continues to push the boundaries of contemporary ceramic sculpture, bridging the gap between craft and fine art.
